Thinking Beyond Just an Outdoor Kitchen

outdoor kitchenAfter a busy day at the office or staying home with the children, you need a place to relax and unwind.  A vacation is a great way to do that, but what if you could give yourself a place in your home that felt like a vacation?  An outdoor living area can be you at-home version of a vacation.  You can take advantage of the warmer weather, and enjoy the fresh air and ambiance of your own backyard.

Start with the Outdoor Kitchen
Whether you have a deck, pool or patio, you can turn your outdoor space into a wonderful outdoor living area that your whole family will enjoy.  Eating outside is a popular option during these warmer months, so the best place to start is with your outdoor kitchen.  There are many options for outdoor kitchens including charcoal or electric grills, sinks, refrigerators, and extra burners and cooking space so you can prepare your entire meal outside.  Outdoor kitchens can make the food prep more fun and it keeps the mess outside!

No need to eat indoors
Next you will want to consider your outdoor dining area.  You may chose to build a bar as your eating area, and have everyone sit on bar stools to eat.  That is a popular option as it centers the grill as the hub of your outdoor area, which is fun for the family's grill master!  You may also prefer to have a table and chairs slightly set away from the grill.  Another smart option is to do both!

Going Beyond Food
Your outdoor living area can be enhanced by adding additional seating.  There are a number of options for outdoor furniture for all styles and tastes.  Adding comfortable seating with cushions, pillows and even recliners or ottomans are a great way to kick back and relax after a long day.  A gazebo is another great addition to an outdoor living area with a spacious backyard.  It gives you a way to get a little more separation from the house and you can install a fire pit for ambiance (or warmth in the winter).

Screen It
Florida does have great weather, but we also have mosquitoes and other bugs.  Bug zappers and Citronella can help, but the best solution is to screen your outdoor living areas in.  You can screen in your deck where you have your outdoor kitchen and you can even screen in a gazebo to keep your outdoor living area bug-free.
